Key SAIL steel mill to resume production following fire at power station

Indian steelmaker Steel Authority of India Ltd's (SAIL) key steel mill, Bhilai Steel Plant, is expected to resume production by late Tuesday, after the fire which broke out at its power and blowing station.

An official company statement said that the fire broke out early Monday at the plant based in the state of Chhattisgarh, severely hitting hot metal production which is to gradually resume by late Tuesday.

The unit had seen a record production in fiscal year 2008-09 with 5.4 million mt of hot metal.
