Kazakhstan's steel product consumption in 2010 is expected to indicate a 5-10 percent increase year on year to 2.9-3 million mt, due to the boom of investments in construction and pipeline projects, thus ranking third place among the leading steel consumers in the CIS after Russia and Ukraine, Ukraine's information-analytical portal ugmk.info has reported.

According to World Steel Association, in 2009 Kazakhstan's apparent steel product consumption increased by 15 percent to 2.79 million mt compared to 2008, becoming one of the few countries in the world where steel demand increased during the year in question.
