Kalyani Steel to increase alloy prices
Indian steelmaker Kalyani Steel announced that it would increase its alloy steel prices Rupees 1,500/ton ($33.8/ton) in April. The increase is attributed to the around 40 percent rise in freight rates and increasing raw materials. The company's last price increase was concluded in April 2005 and after keeping prices constant for sometime, three reductions took place totaling Rupees 2,700/ton during 2005-2006.
