Piombino-based JSW Italy has signed an agreement with Italian steelmaker Acciaieria di Cividate al Piano (ACP) for the supply of 200,000 mt of billet annually, ACP has said in a statement. The cooperation between the two companies began a few months ago with the supply of 60,000 mt of billets and also of technical staff in order to meet the needs of JSW Italy.

Billet coming from ACP will mostly feed the production of wire rod and steel profiles to be delivered to North Africa. Other products such as rails will continue to be produced with semi-finished steels coming from JSW plants in India.

The Piombino-based plant has produced around 60,000 mt monthly of finished products this year, while the volume is expected to reach 80,000 mt per month in 2020. JSW Italy has planned investments of around €50 million in its rolling lines and in a new rail quenching plant.

ACP, based in Cividate al Piano (Bergamo), was acquired last March by Rome-based group Mosteel from Olifin Spa.

In the summer of 2018, JSW Steel became the owner of the Piombino-based assets, formerly known as Aferpi, after buying them from Algerian group Cevital.
