Indian steel giant Jindal Group's subsidiary Jindal Steel & Power Limited (JPPL) has announced that it has been rated as the second highest value creator in the world by Boston Consulting Group, a US-based global management consulting company.

The consultancy has also ranked JSPL as number one in the Mining and Materials Industry category of the same ranking, 1.7 times ahead of its nearest competitor, the Indian company has reported, stressing that JSPL has been the only Indian company to feature in ‘Top Ten 2010 Value Creators Global Rankings'.

The study is based on an analysis of its Total Shareholder Return (TSR), a dynamic ratio that includes price gains and dividend payments for a specific stock during a given period, for the five-year period from 2005 to 2009. The report titled ‘Threading the Needle: Value Creation in a Low-Growth Economy' is the 12th in the Value Creators series published by Boston Consulting Group every year.

JSPL features after Hong-Kong-based technology and telecom giant Tencent in the top ten list. There were no other companies listed from the mining or steel sector in the ranking.
