As recently disclosed by an official of the Jiangxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission, the government of the southeastern Chinese province of Jiangxi is planning to regroup five major mills in the province and to relocate the integrated enterprise to a suitable site for the development of a large-scale steel group.

The total steel capacities thus to be regrouped are reported to amount to 20 million mt, covering five major mills, among which the biggest has an annual capacity of nearly 10 million mt.

At present, Xinyu Steel is the only mill in Jiangxi Province which can reach a steel production capacity of 10 million mt. Meanwhile, Pingxiang Steel, Nanchang Steel and Hongdou Steel are also likely to be among the mills concerned.
