Japan's steel exports up in June
Data from the Japanese Iron and Steel Federation show that Japan's steel exports rose 11.1 percent year on year to 3.38 million metric tons in June 2006. Japan's steel exports to South Korea rose 18.6 percent year on year to 891,000 metric tons in June, while those to China grew 0.1 percent to 573,000 metric tons. Furthermore, Japan's steel exports to Thailand fell 22.7 percent to 326,000 metric tons, while those to Taiwan rose 4.4 percent to 339,000 metric tons. Japan's steel exports to the US jumped 69.8 percent to 222,000 metric tons.
