According to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Association, steel product orders, including specialty steels, booked by domestic steel consuming sectors in July this year amounted to 6.94 million metric tons, increasing by nine percent compared to June and down 20 percent year on year.
In July, steel products orders in Japan, including specialty steels, booked by the domestic construction sector increased by 10.21 percent compared to June, to 896,640 metric tons, while the year-on-year decrease was 28.52 percent. Meanwhile, steel product orders booked by the Japanese automotive sector reached 1.05 million metric tons, increasing by 20.91 percent compared to June and up 3.72 percent year on year, while Japan's shipbuilding industry booked 460,133 metric tons of steel products during the period in question, down 3.26 percent month on month and 8.5 percent year on year.
