Japan’s industrial output rises slightly in November from October levels

According to the data released by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the country's seasonally adjusted industrial production in November rose by one percent month on month, showing an increase for the first time in six months. Meanwhile, a rise of 5.8 percent was registered compared to November 2009.

Industrial shipments in November increased 2.5 percent from the previous month, showing an increase for the first time in five months. The data showed an increase of eight percent from the same month of the previous year.

In November, seasonally adjusted iron and steel production in Japan increased by 1.2 percent, and producers' iron and steel shipments rose by 6.1 percent, while inventories in the sector were down 4.7 percent, all on month-on-month basis.

According to the survey of production forecasts in manufacturing and production undertaken by the ministry, the month-on-month industrial production is expected to increase 3.4 percent in December and 3.7 percent in January 2011.
