In the third quarter of the current year, Japanese hot rolled coil (HRC) exports to South Korea decreased by 39.2 percent year on year to 459,100 mt. In September alone, Japanese HRC exported to South Korea amounted to 152,000 mt, decreasing by 1.1 percent month on month.

Japan's HRC export volume to South Korea has decreased sharply since June this year due to the expansion of South Korean steelmaking companies such as POSCO and Hyundai Steel. Previously, Japan's monthly HRC exports to South Korea were in the range of 240,000-250,000 mt.
