Japan's HR steel strip shipments down 9.3 percent in September from August

In September this year, Japan's hot rolled plate and sheet shipments increased by 14.4 percent compared to the previous month and were down by 1.9 percent compared to the same month of 2016, amounting to 793,000 metric tons. 79 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 21 percent were made to the export markets, according to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) data. 

In September, Japan's hot rolled plate and sheet production amounted to 776,000 mt, down two percent month on month and falling 7.4 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in September, Japan's hot rolled strip shipments amounted to 1.44 million mt, down 9.3 percent from the previous month and falling by 3.5 percent year on year. 27 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 73 percent were made to the export markets. In the given month, Japan's hot rolled strip production amounted to 1.35 million mt, decreasing by 15.3 percent month on month and down by 1.6 percent year on year.
