Japanese industrial production rises 3.9 percent in June over May
In June this year, Japan's seasonally adjusted industrial production increased 3.9 percent from the previous month, showing a month-on-month increase for the third consecutive month, while it showed a decrease of 1.6 percent compared to the same month last year. According to the Survey of Production Forecast in Manufacturing published by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japanese industrial production is expected to increase by 2.2 percent month on month in July this year. Meanwhile, in June the country's iron and steel production increased by one percent as compared to the previous month, while producers' iron and steel shipments were up by six percent and iron and steel inventories were down by 1.4 percent, all compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, on year-on-year basis, the country's iron and steel production in June witnessed a decrease of 6.2 percent. In June, seasonally adjusted crude steel production in Japan decreased slightly by 0.1 percent compared to the previous month and was down by five percent on year-on-year basis. Producers' crude steel shipments in June were up by 1.4 percent compared to the same month last year.
