Japanese auto output down 16.63 percent in May

According to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), in May this year Japanese automobile production (including passenger cars, trucks and buses) totaled 645,427 units, decreasing by 128,714 units or 16.63 percent compared to the same month of 2014, decreasing for the 11th consecutive month on year-on-year basis. 
 
In May, domestic automobile sales in Japan stood at 335,644 vehicles, down 7.6 percent as compared with the same month of 2014. 
 
Meanwhile, the country's automobile exports in May this year amounted to 289,477 units, down by 32,234 units or 10 percent year on year.
