Japanese steelmaker Japan Steel Works has said its order volume in the current fiscal year is expected to be about 40 percent lower than previously expected, mainly due to the impact on the Fukushima nuclear power plant of the March 11 earthquake. Japan Steel Works was the pressure vessel supplier for the Fukushima nuclear power plant.

According to the latest estimates, Japan Steel Works' aggregate value of demand received for steel used in nuclear power plant applications in the current fiscal year will be around $502 million, down 40 percent compared with predictions made in May 2010.
