According to the figures released by the Italian steel producers' association Federacciai, in September this year Italian crude steel output rose by 11.4 percent year on year and by 84.18 percent month on month, totaling 2.551 million metric tons. The strong growth as compared to the month of August is the result of the resumption of production work after the summer holidays.
Italian crude steel output in the first nine months of the current year increased by 11.3 percent year on year to 21.259 million metric tons.
Federacciai also released Italy's long and flat steel output data for August this year. Accordingly, in August Italy's long steel output was up 19.9 percent year on year and down 69.6 percent month on month, totaling 361,000 metric tons. On the other hand, in the same month Italian flat steel output reached 990,000 metric tons, increasing by 66.4 percent year on year and by 3.6 percent month on month.
In the first eight months of 2011, long steel production in Italy reached 8.457 million mt, up 9.9 percent, while flat steel production grew by 18.8 percent to 9.616 million mt, both year on year.
