Indian companies are likely to be in Iraq’s reconstruction

Indian steel companies directed towards the reconstruction process in Iraq after the war, are making a great effort to participate in this process. It is reported that PCP International of India, representing engineering and allied enterprises such as Tata and Essar, established several warehouses in southern Iraq in order to operate as distribution centers. Added to that, Ispat Industries Limited (IIL) has become a potential supplier of a major contractor in Iraq charged for the reconstruction which is namely Bechtel located in California. It is quite interesting that steel exports from India to Iran, which is believed to be basicly for Iraq as it is much more easier to move these orders by road, has increased up to 50'000 ton from 5'000mt in last couple of months. According to industry analysts, other Indian mills determined to participate in the biddings for Iraq's reconstruction, are expected to follow PCP International and IIL.
