At the request of India's Steel Ministry, the Indian government may roll back the export duty on steel it imposed on May 10.

Indian Steel Secretary P.S. Pandey has stated that request of the domestic steel producers regarding the withdrawal of the export duty on steel is currently under consideration and a decision is expected to be known soon.

Following the introduction of export duty on steel, the domestic steel manufacturers threatened the government with a rollback of their recent cut in prices if the government refused to reconsider its decision regarding the duty.
