India announces new rules for metallic scrap imports

Indian government has recently announced new rules for import of metallic scrap following the explosion caused by imported scrap containers containing explosives. According to new rules, imports of all kinds of metallic scrap will be accompanied by a pre-inspection certificate in order to ensure that they do not contain any explosives or radioactive material. Moreover, the imports would be subject to 100% examination according to the procedures laid down by the Customs. Imports would be restricted through 15 ports.
