In 2011, Vietnam's steel import volume totaled 7.39 million mt, down 18.7 percent year on year, with a value of $6.43 billion, rising by 4.5 percent compared to 2010, according to Vietnamese customs data.

In the given year, Vietnam's three biggest sources of steel imports were Japan with 1.93 million mt, up 10.6 percent, South Korea with 1.7 million mt, up 2.9 percent, and China with 1.67 million mt, down 23.7 percent - all compared to 2010.
