Hyundai had originally intended to establish the CVGL (Continuous Vertical Galvanizing Line) early in the current year. However, due to late deliveries by SMS, the company has decided to postpone the project to the second half of 2007.
Company officials explained that because this will be the world's first CVGL, SMS are proceeding with extra care and are currently carrying out simulation tests.
Meanwhile, an ordinary CGL is being set up at Hyundai's factory located in Dang-Jin. A representative of the company said that the newly established CGL will be able to operate at a higher speed and produce a higher percentage of qualified products, compared with the CGL currently operating at the Sun-Cheon factory.
The qualified product percentage rate as regards GI products is expected to be 85-90 percent, while for GA
plate it is 93 percent. The main products manufactured at the Dang-Jin factory include GI, GA and Zn-Al alloy
galvanized steel
plate.
