Hebei Steel Group wins tender to supply Wudongde hydroelectric station

On February 4, Hebei Province-based Chinese steel producer Hebei Iron and Steel Group announced that it has won a tender to supply construction steel to Wudonghe Hydroelectric Power Station at Jinsha River, a project of the Chinese state-owned power company China Three Gorges Corporation, which will play an important role in the transmission of electricity from western China to the country’s eastern region. Hebei Steel Group submitted the tender jointly with Hubei Province-based Wuhan Xinxin Materials Corporation, while most of the steel in question, expected to amount to 200,000 mt, will actually be supplied by Hebei Steel Group’s subsidiary Handan Steel.
 
In the meantime, Hebei-based Wuyang Iron and Steel, another subsidiary of Hebei Steel Group, has won a tender to supply 28,526 mt of steel plates used in offshore oil drilling platforms to Chinese state-owned oil company China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC).
