Hebei eliminates 14.86 million mt of crude steel capacity in Jan-Aug

The Environmental Protection Department of China’s Hebei Province has announced that the province eliminated 14.86 million mt of crude steel production capacity and 15.02 million mt of iron smelting production capacity in the January-August period of the current year, with the overall capacity cuts amounting to 93.8 percent of the annual target.

At the beginning of the year, Hebei Province had announced that it was aiming to eliminate an aggregate total of 31.86 million mt of crude steel and iron smelting production capacity in 2017.
