Hebei-based Chinese steelmaker Handan Iron and Steel has demolished three converters each with an annual output capacity of 0.3 million mt of crude steel, as announced on September 28 by its parent company, major Chinese steel producer Hebei Iron and Steel Group.

The demolition of the converters is in line with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's policy targeting the elimination of all backward steel production capacities by the end of September this year.
