GoSource Italy, a part of US-based SANGRAF International, has obtained Integrated Environmental Authorization from the region of Umbria in Italy, a document that represents a fundamental step towards the reopening of the former SGL Carbon graphite electrode plant in Narni, Italy. However, an environmental licence for the Narni 1 site from the Province of Terni is still required.

Luca Stinchelli, GoSource CEO, confirming that the company has received the Integrated Environmental Authorization, said that they are now waiting "for another certificate, regarding the reclamation of the area, which must be granted by the province".

GoSource is currently forming the workforce to resume production of graphite electrodes at the Narmi plant. At the beginning of this year, the company announced its commitment to invest around €30 million over a three-year period, during which it expects to reach an annual production of 30,000 metric tons of electrodes, with 100 employees.
