In June this year Germany's steel industry capacity utilization rate was 94 percent, while it exceded 90 percent for the first half of the current year, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl).

In June, the country's crude steel output amounted to 3.9 million metric tons, increasing slightly by 0.2 percent year on year. Compared to the previous month, the country's crude steel output in June fell by six percent. WV Stahl said the decline from the previous month is due mainly to differences in the number of working days.

Meanwhile, in the January-June period of this year Germany's crude steel production reached 23.2 million metric tons, rising by 1.9 percent as compared to the corresponding period of last year.

On the other hand, in May this year Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 3.53 million metric tons, up by 0.3 percent, including 2.31 million metric tons of flat steel products - down 3.7 percent, and 1.22 million metric tons of long steel products - up 9.1 percent, all compared to May 2010.
