In December last year, the seasonally and working-day adjusted turnover in the German manufacturing industry decreased by 1.5 percent compared to November, according to the preliminary data reported by Germany's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). The working day adjusted turnover in the German manufacturing sector in December last year increased by 2.8 percent compared to December 2012.
Last year, the working-day adjusted turnover in German manufacturing was 0.2 percent below the level of 2012, with domestic sales decreasing by 1.6 percent and foreign sales rising by 1.4 percent, year on year.
In December last year, the turnover of German metal and metal product manufacturing increased by 1.7 percent as compared to November, with domestic sales rising by 1.5 percent, while foreign sales were up two percent, month on month. In December, a decline of 4.1 percent was recorded in the turnover in manufacture of fabricated metal products, with domestic sales decreasing 4.1 percent and foreign sales down by 4.1 percent, both compared to the previous month.
In December last year, the largest month-on-month turnover decrease in the German manufacturing sector was observed in the motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts industry with a fall of 5.4 percent, including a 3.4 percent decrease in domestic sales and a 6.6 percent decrease in foreign sales, month on month.
