German economy continues to grow in Q3

As reported by Germany's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the German economy continued to grow in the third quarter of this year. In this period, the country's price, season and calendar adjusted gross domestic product (GDP) rose by 0.2 percent compared to the previous quarter, following a quarter-on-quarter growth rate of 0.4 percent in the second quarter this year.
 
In the third quarter, exports were slightly down while imports were slightly up compared with the second quarter of 2016.
 
Economic growth decelerated somewhat also in a year-on-year comparison. The price-adjusted GDP was up by 1.5% in the third quarter of 2016, following a 3.1% increase in the second quarter and a 1.5% increase in the first quarter of 2016.
