In the January-February period of the current year, the overall freight volume transported on China’s waterways (rivers, lakes, seas) amounted to 1.067 billion mt, increasing by 7.8 percent year on year, while the freight traffic volume on the country’s waterways totaled 1.52 trillion mt-km, rising by 5.5 percent year on year, according to the latest data issued by China’s Ministry of Transportation (MOT).
