In the January-June period this year, the overall freight volume transported on China’s waterways (rivers, lakes, seas) amounted to 3.505 billion mt, increasing by 7.2 percent year on year, while the freight traffic volume on the country’s waterways totaled 4976.22 billion mt-km, rising by 5.0 percent year on year, according to the latest data issued by China’s Ministry of Transportation (MOT).
