Nucor announced that the Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST) presented Nucor's Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President, John Ferriola, with its Steelmaker of the Year award, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the steel industry. The award is given annually to recognize a steel industry leader who has had a significant impact on the global steel business. The award was presented at the President's Award Breakfast, one of the signature events of AISTech, in Pittsburgh on May 17, 2016.

Since the inception of the award in 1991, Ferriola is only the second industry leader to receive this honor twice. He was also named Steelmaker of the Year in 2009.

While accepting the award, Mr. Ferriola said, "I am truly honored to accept this award on behalf of my 23,000 teammates at Nucor. This is truly a team award. A leader is only as a good as the team that surrounds him, and I am blessed to be surrounded by the best team in the industry."
