On Saturday, December 14, an explosion was reported at one of the blast furnaces of Turkish steel producer Isdemir, located in the Iskenderun region. In a press release, the producer stated that the explosion happened in a channel containing pig iron, occurring when leaked water come into contact with the hot metal. No one was injured. “We took the necessary precautions and the furnace will return to normal production in the short term,” the producer added.

A company source has told SteelOrbis that the blast furnace in question will resume production within four to five days.
