The Sukhaya Balka iron ore mining and processing complex, the Ukraine-based subsidiary of the Russian steelmaker and iron ore producer Evraz Group, has completed the construction of its own railway siding from its Frunze mine to the station Rokuvataya, and has today, April 30, resumed its iron ore shipments by rail.
As SteelOrbis previously reported, from the beginning of the current year Sukhaya Balka was not able to deliver its products due to a rail transportation conflict with Krivoy Rog Iron Ore Industrial Complex (KRZhK), and, as a result, on March 1 this year it was forced to stop its iron ore mining and switch to minimal operations.
Today, on the new railway siding, Sukhaya Balka has already delivered 3,800 mt of products to its customers in Slovakia. In addition, the enterprise continues to deliver iron ore also by road transport, followed by transshipment in the railway wagons of the national state-owned railway company of Ukraine, Ukrzaliznytsia. Another batch of ore totaling 4,500 mt has been shipped today by road to the Ukrainian flat steel producer Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol (Ilyich).
In April this year, Sukhaya Balka's iron ore shipments to customers is planned to reach 39,000 mt. In addition, on May 11 the enterprise intends to resume iron ore mining.
