Eurofer, the European Confederation of Iron and Steel Industries, is expected to apply to the European Commission this week for an antidumping investigation against ex-China steel imports, according to widespread media reports.

However, it is also reported that there is a low probability of the European Commission applying an antidumping duty in the short term against Chinese steel products. Only last week, European Commission representatives held a meeting with Chinese steel industry authorities in Beijing, during which the Chinese side pledged continued efforts for the reduction of steel exports.

Meanwhile, steel consumers in Europe are also against the imposition of such a tariff.
