EU to open quota for Turkish products

In the Official Gazette, a list for the products, the customs duties of which are planned to be suspended and the European Union plans to open quota as of January 1, 2007, in the framework of the customs union between the European Union and Turkey, was published yesterday. With respect to iron and steel industry, the list covers pig iron, blocks or other primary forms containing by weight not less than 0.1 percent but less than 0.4 percent of manganese (Taric Code 7201.10.30) and pig iron, blocks or other primary forms containing by weight not less than 0.4 percent of manganese and containing by weight 1 percent or less of silicon (Taric Code 7201.10.11). Producers of the subject merchandises, which are willing to object to the suspension of the customs duties or opening of tariff quota, should apply to the Undersectariat of the Prime Ministry for Foreign Trade within 15 days.
