EU proposed duty rates for new HRC anti-dumping duties

Under the plans of a new anti dumping duty scheme that is currently subject to the discussions by the EU Commission, the following duty rates for the specified countries are proposed.

Country Company Duty
South Africa Iscor 20.6%
                  Highveld 37.8%
Turkey - 11.5%
Bulgaria - 16.1%
Slovakia - 18.6%
Egypt - 13.8%
At the moment, it seems that Iran, Libya and Hungary are considered to be excluded from these new duties due to de minimis situation. Voting in respect of the above stated proposed duty rates are to be held February 5, 2003. Meanwhile, SteelOrbis understands that the related countries subject to these new anti-dumping duties are currently working on possibilities of concluding individual price undertaking agreements with the EU Commission in order to secure exemptions from such duties. However industry insiders do not see much of a hope in the EU agreeing to such suggestions.
