SteelOrbis Shanghai According to an announcement published on October 31, the European Union (EU) is to initiate a provisional anti-dumping review regarding Chinese ferromolybdenum (customs code: 72027000). The period subject to the review extends from October 1, 2005 to September 30, 2006. From January 28, 2002, the EU has imposed a 22.5-percent anti-dumping duty on Chinese ferromolybdenum. Because of its surplus production, the Chinese ferroalloy industry continually experiences difficulties. In order to rein in production, the Chinese government has adjusted its export tariff to 10 percent, effective from November 1. A China Iron & Steel Association (CISA) insider has disclosed that if exports are not curbed effectively by the 10 percent tariff, then the government will introduce a further increase.
