EU annual inflation moves up to 2.3 percent in November

Annual inflation in the European Union was 2.3 percent in November this year, unchanged from October, according to a report released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In November 2009 the annual inflation rate was registered as 1.0 percent. Meanwhile, monthly inflation was 0.2 percent in November this year.

In November, the lowest annual rates were observed in Ireland with - 0.8 percent, in Slovakia with 1 percent and in the Netherlands with 1.4 percent, while the highest were seen in Romania with 7.7 percent, in Estonia with 5 percent and in Greece with 4.8 percent. Compared with October, annual inflation rose in 10 member states, remained stable in five and fell in 12.

The lowest 12-month averages up to the end of November this year were registered in Ireland at -1.8 percent, in Latvia at -1.5 percent and in Slovakia at 0.6 percent, while the highest were recorded in Romania at 5.8 percent, in Hungary at 4.8 percent and in Greece at 4.5 percent.
