EU-27 industrial producer prices up 0.2 percent in September over August

Industrial producer prices in the European Union member states (EU-27) rose by 0.2 percent month on month in September, according to Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In August, the revised month-on-month increase was 0.1 percent in the region.
 
As compared with September 2009, industrial producer prices in September this year in the EU-27 increased by 4.5 percent.
 
In September, prices in overall industry excluding the energy sector improved by 0.3 percent month on month and were up 2.7 percent year on year, while prices in the energy sector increased by 0.1 percent month on month and were up 9.5 percent year on year. Prices for durable consumer goods increased by 0.1 percent over August this year and were up by 1.5 percent compared to September 2009.
 
On month-on-month basis, the highest increases in the overall index were recorded in Malta at 14.4 percent and in Bulgaria and Hungary at 9.6 percent, while the smallest increase rates were registered in Ireland at 1.9 percent and in the Czech Republic at 2.4 percent. The only decrease was seen in Slovakia at 0.8 percent.
