EU-27 construction output up 1.6% in October over September

According to first estimates released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, in October this year the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-27) increased 1.6 percent as compared to September and was down by 4.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. In September, production had decreased by 1.6 percent compared to the previous month.
 
In the euro area, the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in October fell 1.6 percent month on month and was down by 4.1 percent compared to October 2011. In September, production had decreased 1.3 percent compared to the previous month, according to the newly revised data.
 
Building construction in the EU-27 in October rose by 2.1 percent month on month and was down 4.5 percent compared to October 2011, while civil engineering increased by 2.0 percent from September and was down 3.5 percent as compared to the same month of 2011.
 
As compared to September, construction output in October increased in United Kingdom by 11.7 percent, in Bulgaria by 2.2 percent, and in Italy by 1.9 percent, while a decrease of 21.1 percent was registered in Slovenia, a decrease of  5.3 percent was recorded in Germany and a fall of 4.7 percent was registered in Sweden
