EU-27 construction output unchanged in August from July

According to a report released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, in August this year the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-27) remained unchanged as compared to July and was up 0.6 percent compared to August 2010. In July, production increased 0.9 percent compared to the previous month, according to the newly revised data.

In the EU, building construction in August increased by 0.1 percent month on month and was down by 0.1 percent compared to August 2010, while civil engineering fell by 0.7 percent from July and was up by 3.2 as compared to the same month last year.

As compared to July, construction output in August increased in Portugal by 7.6 percent, in France by 3.2 percent and in Hungary by 1.5 percent, while month-on-month decreases of 6.6 percent, 4.5 percent and 2.3 percent respectively were registered in Slovenia, Romania and Slovakia.
