Indian steelmaker Essar Steel has established an office in Dubai in order to explore opportunities in the booming Middle East market. The Middle East is a big region for Essar Steel's exports. The company exports 20% of its total exports to the Middle East which is nearly 200'000 tons valued at $60 million annually. Furthermore, Essar Steel is making a great effort to participate in the reconstruction of Iraq and ongoing construction boom in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. Essar Steel exports nearly 40% of its steel products and plans to increase its exports during the next two years.
