At the end of August this year, 244,000 persons worked in metal production and processing in Germany. As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on the basis of provisional results, the figure was 1.5 percent more than at the end of August 2011 and up 1,000 persons compared to the end of July this year.
Employment in the manufacture of metal products in Germany rose 3.3 percent to 503,000 persons by the end of August this year compared to the same time in 2011, while it was up 3,000 persons compared to the end of July this year. Meanwhile, the number of employees in the production of motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts increased 3.2 percent year on year to 751,000 persons.
