EC extends suspension of AD duty imposed on imports of silico-manganese from China and Kazakhstan

The European Commission has announced its decision to extend a suspension period for imposition of a definitive antidumping duty on imports of silico-manganese, including ferro-silico-manganese, (SiMn) originating in China and Kazakhstan, falling within CN codes 7202 30 00 and ex 8111 00 11. The rate for the antidumping duty is 8.2 percent and 6.5 percent for China and Kazakhstan respectively.

Following the original suspension of the duties for the period of nine months with an effect from December 6, 2007, the EC has continued to monitor the developments on the market, in particular with regards to the flow of imports and the prices of SiMn. As a result of the monitor performed by the EC, it has been determined that the market is in a substantially similar situation as when the measures were suspended. Indeed, the EC considered that the injury linked to the imports of the subject merchandise imported from China and Kazakhstan is unlikely to resume.

The suspension of the definitive antidumping duty imposed by the EC on imports of SiMn from China and Kazakhstan is hereby extended until September 6, 2009.
