The European Community (EC) has today announced its decision regarding anti-dumping duty on imports of silicomanganese from China and Kazakstan.

According to the announcement, the EC has determined an antidumping duty of 8.2 percent for Chinese origin products and of 6.5 percent for Kazakh origin products.

However, the EC also decided to suspend the measures for a period of nine months.

The reasons for the suspension are the strong increase in SiMn prices after the original investigation period (October 1, 2006 to September 30, 2007) and the gradual decrease in the market share of Chinese and Kazakh origin SiMn in overall EC imports.
