Despite a halt in its operations in November 2015, Brazilian pellet producer Samarco continues to close sporadic pellet deals abroad. Samarco is a 50/50 joint venture between Vale and BHP Billiton.

The company told SteelOrbis a vessel arrived this week at the Ubu port, in the city of Anchieta, in the state of Espirito Santo, to transport 78,000 mt of pellet feed to China.

The company didn’t disclose the client name in China, but clarified the product sold wasn’t a result of recent activity, but was recovered from the company’s own stock.

Samarco said it was the second deal it closed so far. The first was in July last year to the US. The company said it has no forecast for future pellet shipments.
