In the framework of its expansion strategy for the Far East, Italian plantmaker Danieli will tomorrow inaugurate its regional base in the Rayong industrial zone in Thailand, which will employ 1,600 people and account for 60 percent of Danieli’s total productivity. From its location in Thailand, Danieli’s subsidiary Danieli Far East Co. Ltd. will design and manufacture machinery and plants for the steel industry throughout the entire Far East market.

Danieli says that with the Thai facility it will be able to guarantee rapid post-sales service to its customers, thereby increasing its competitiveness in the fastest growing markets in the steel industry, in particular in China, India and the ex-Soviet Union countries.

Danieli’s chairman and CEO, Gianpietro Benedetti stated that the new facility was “an interesting example of internationalization being carried out by an Italian company of medium dimensions.” He added, “We were able to build the facility in just 18 months, helped also by the industry-friendly local atmosphere.”
