Corus, Salzgitter to develop HSD steel products

Anglo-Dutch steelmaker Corus and Germany's Salzgitter will jointly develop steel products with high strength and ductility, sources report. High strength ductile (HSD) steels, which have higher manganese content than conventional steel, are used in a wide range of applications, such as automobiles and complex mechanical parts. The companies declined to reveal the financial details of the agreement. However, in line with the cooperation agreement, the companies will share the research and development costs.
