In the January-July period of this year, the raw coal output in China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region totaled 601 million mt, up 13.3 percent year on year, including 425 million mt produced by large and medium-sized coal producers, up 27.2 percent on year-on-year basis, according to Inner Mongolia Coal Industry Bureau (IMCIB).
In the given period, large and medium-sized coal producers in Inner Mongolia achieved RMB 152.52 billion ($24.06 billion) in sales revenue and RMB 30.84 billion ($4.86 billion) in gross profit, up 18.7 percent and down 21.5 percent respectively, both compared to the same period of last year.
Furthermore, according to the statistics released by Coal Industry Bureau of China's Shanxi Province, in the first seven months of this year Shanxi Province witnessed a total output of 530 million mt of raw coal, up 10.2 percent or 49.32 million on year-on-year basis. In the given period, sales revenue of the coal industry in Shanxi reached RMB 594.8 billion ($93.8 billion), up 37.1 percent or RMB186.9 billion ($29.48 billion) compared to the same period of last year, while gross profit was RMB 23.24 billion ($3.67 billion), down 3.2 percent or RMB 760 million ($119.87 million) year on year.
Accordingly, in the January-July period of this year, Inner Mongolia and Shanxi, the two main Chinese coal producing provinces, both posted declines in gross profit despite increases in crude coal output and sales revenue, all year on year.
