CISA: China composite steel price index rises during December

According to the data released by the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), as of the end of December (December 31) last year the composite steel price index (CSPI) for the Chinese domestic market was at 121.8 points, up 3.14 points or 2.65 percent month on month, while increasing by 22.29 points or 22.4 percent on year-on-year basis. 

At the end of December, the CSPI long steel index was at 128.98 points, up 4.09 points or 3.27 percent month on month and increasing by 31.38 points or 32.15 percent year on year, while the CSPI flat steel index stood at 117.37 points, rising by 2.83 points or 2.47 percent month on month and increasing by 12.77 points or 12.21 percent year on year. 

As of the end of December last year, among the eight main steel products monitored by the CISA, prices of high-speed wire rod, rebar, angles, medium plate, hot rolled coil (HRC), cold rolled sheet (CRS), hot dip galvanized (HDG), and hot rolled seamless pipe increased by RMB 109/mt ($17.1/mt), RMB 161/mt ($25.2/mt), RMB 51/mt ($8.0/mt), RMB 109/mt ($17.1/mt), RMB 118/mt ($18.4/mt), RMB 150/mt ($23.4/mt),RMB 129/mt ($20.2/mt) and RMB 214/mt ($33.4/mt), all compared to price levels at the end of November last year
