CISA appoints new chairman

SteelOrbis Shanghai In accordance with the decision made at the Third Congress of the China Iron & Steel Association which ended last Friday, former Baosteel chairwoman Xie Qihua is to be replaced in her role as CISA chairman by Zhang Xiaogang, party committee secretary and president of Anshan Iron & Steel Group. Luo Bingsheng will continue to work as CISA executive vice-chairman and secretary general. Zhang Xiaogang (53) has worked at Anshan Steel Group for more than 30 years, assuming the position of president of the group just last month. According to CISA stipulations, starting from 2005 the position of chairman is to be occupied by leaders of China's top steel groups and updated every two years. Generally, the executive vice-chairman remains based at CISA headquarters to deal with day-to-day work.
